Meet MimiAs a competitive skater she was known for her authenticity as a performer. After retiring from competition, Wacholder became a principal performer in the Ice Capades and also performed and choreographed with the Ice Theatre of NY; she later became an Associate Producer at ABC Sports. She has BFA in Creative Communications from Emerson College and is a RYT/Structural Yoga Therapist (mimyoga.com) who works with many Olympic Teams in Lake Placid, NY.
The same authenticity that Mimi was known for in her performances continues in the ways she connects with her students. As a lifelong student herself, she is humble, playful and continually finds ways to improve and educate herself and then share her insights and discoveries.

Mimi meets each student where he or she is in the learning process and she believes in her students’ ability to learn and improve. Mimi understands the adult student: intellectualizing, self doubting and sometimes fearful. Through her training methods she intills clarity, self-confidence, and inspiration. The concepts of laughter and play are not forgotten elements in her teaching methods as she connects on a personal level with all of her students.
When teaching physics professors from one of the most prestigious schools in the world how to ice skate, you learn the why of everything, for this I am eternally grateful. I was an elite skater when I started coaching, but I didn’t know how skating worked until I applied physics principals, it was fascinating and still is. – MimiMimi credits her students at MIT Figure Skating Club in Cambridge, MA for setting her foundation as a coach as it was there where she learned, the physics of Figure Skating from her students.
Mimi continued to increase her depth of knowledge by studying yoga, barre, pilates and dance and she shares connections to many of these methodologies as she guides her students to better understand the structure and functional capacity of their own bodies.
