A reminder that classes meet you wherever you are. There is no where we are getting ”to” in yoga, we are already there. Nothing we are striving to achieve in our form, we are complete. Flexibility is not a prerequisite of yoga, but one of the many beneficial results. Getting to know our bodies and selves better is the story of our practice and you can start this process from wherever you are.
An analogy for the springtime. Yoga is spring-cleaning for the body and soul. Think of the self and body as a stream. Especially after winter but anytime, after physical activity, inactivity, emotional experiences, stress and daily life, the flow of the stream is clogged with sticks, leaves and debris. These are our human experiences. In the practice of yoga and mediation, we have the opportunity to clear the debris and let the stream flow freely and unobstructed. What a gift and great opportunity.
As the earth thaws this spring and offers us the renewal of life through warmth and sunshine, may your yoga practice do the same. Opening space in your body, mind and heart for the seeds to sprout.
Namaste.
